Aardman Animations & Enable Interactive Create New Interactive Kids Portal
WebbliWorld Ltd. commissioned Aardman Animations and Enable Interactive to design and develop www.webbliworld.com, a fun, interactive and engaging virtual world for children. The website features animated films starring new characters, as well as interactive games and adventures, and a fun, whimsical world for children to explore.
WebbliWorld was conceived and is owned, by U.K. TV/advertising vets Justine Maunder and Camilla Whitby. It's designed to provide children with a safe online world in which they can experience the vast resources of the Internet, including entertainment, educational resources and news feeds; the next phase of the website includes a comprehensive search engine and a social networking community.
WebbliWorld will have numerous tie-ins to advertising clients, who will sponsor different sections of the website, according to Heather Wright, head of Aardmanâs TV commercials division, in addition to the two initial sponsors, Puffin Books and The World Wildlife Fund.
âWebbliworld.com was a fantastic opportunity for Aardman as it allowed us to show that our animation & design skills are just as relevant in web designâ says Wright. âOur designer Tim Ruffle created the highly colorful, energetic and immersive world, which kids love and is something fresh and different completely from scratch.
âItâs been great working with Aardman to make WebbliWorld a brilliant place for kids to be online," said Matt Connolly, strategy director at Enable Interactive. "It shows just what you can achieve when you put two really innovative companies together. Enable concentrated on strategy, architecture, functionality, interface development and bringing Aardmanâs unique characters and illustrations to life.
