3D Entertainment Summit Wraps Up
The inaugural 3D Entertainment Summit wrapped up Wednesday, concluding two days of industry expert commentary, panel discussions defining business models and creative technique, 3D presentations of trailers, videogames and never-before-seen sneak previews of test footage and technology demonstrations.
More than 400 members of the 3-D industry ecosystem and press from U.S., Canada, France, the United Kingdom and Japan met at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles. Attendees who will shape the future of 3-D included a "who's who" list of studio executives, corporate CEOs, financial executives, agents, major directors and producers and actors discussing the opportunities and challenges of expanding the 3-D industry across multiple areas including theatrical exhibition, broadcast television and home entertainment.
"After two intense days of discussion and debate, it is absolutely clear that 3D entertainment is enjoying a strong growth curve with 15 percent of total box office revenues expected to come from 3-D movie releases in 2009," said Robert Dowling, co-producer, 3D Entertainment Summit. "With Wall Street analysts actively covering 3-D, major sporting events being displayed live in 3-D, leading directors signing on for event film releases in 2009 and 2010, videogame companies announcing 3-D console titles, the immersive world of 3-D entertainment is clearly the road to the future of entertainment."
