fmx 09: One Awesome Conference

Renata and Thomas Haegele topped the event from last year and again the numbers of attendees increased. Again more and internationally renowned speakers came to Stuttgart, again for four days the sunny town became animator’s land And that in those dark and gloomy times of worldwide economic crisis. And I did not discover one unhappy face during all those days.

Disney's A Christmas Carol Goes on Whistle-Stop Tour

Disney is hosting an interactive 40-city train tour including a 3-D sneak peek of film footage from the upcoming movie DISNEY’S A CHRISTMAS CAROL. Set amidst a snowy backdrop -- complete with all of the sights and sounds of Christmas including carolers, decorations, giveaways and many more surprises in each of the 40 cities -- the Train Tour is being launched with HP on board as the title and technology sponsor and driven by Amtrak. This family event is for guests of all ages and is free to the public.

At-Bristol, Aardman Announce New Animation Exhibition

Wallace and Gromit will join a host of other Aardman favourites at a new GBP 400,000 animation exhibition set to open at the popular Harbourside attraction, Explore-At-Bristol, on 18 July.

The interactive exhibition called Animate It! has been developed in association with Aardman Animations and will allow visitors to create their own animations and broadcast them via a new interactive website.

This marks RealD's first installation in a European theme park and the second partnership between RealD and LEGOLAND, with the initial pact incorporating RealD technology into LEGOLAND California at the theme park's Show Place Theater.

Monsters, Inc. Ride Opens in Tokyo Disneyland

Wednesday was the opening day at Tokyo Disneyland for "Monsters, Inc. Ride and Go Seek!," reports AFP.

Park operator Oriental Land Co. spent $100 million (10 billion yen) on the ride, which is the first to open at the park in five years. Panasonic sponsored the attraction, located in Tomorrowland.

Similar to the "Monsters Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!" ride at Disney's California Adventure in Anaheim, Calif., "Ride and Go Seek" takes guests through the world of the 2001 movie, only with more interactivity and sophistication.

Disney Family to Open Museum in San Francisco

Walt Disney's only surviving daughter, Diana Disney Miller, and other family members, are working to open a museum focused on the film legend's home life and artistic achievements, reports THE NEW YORK TIMES.

The $112 million museum, called The Walt Disney Family Museum, is set to open in the fall and will be run by the former deputy director of the Harvard University Art Museums, Richard Benefield.

The exhibition will show personal items, like never-before-seen home movies and Disney artifacts, like STEAMBOAT WILLIE animation cels.

Oscar Tour Comes to Close at DreamWorks

The Oscar Showcase tour came to an end on Friday with a visit to DreamWorks. The filmmakers were clearly tired from their long week and a half, but their excitement hasn't wavered. Ron invited Academy board member Rick Farmiloe to join us for the day to experience the tour with the filmmakers.
