The Independent film competition will be selected by festival organizers. A
four member selection committee will meet in July to select the commissioned films
competition. We are pleased to announced that the following people have
accepted our invitation to serve as committee members for Ottawa 00:

Ryan Larkin, born in Montreal, is considered to be one of Canada's
finest animators. A protege of McLaren, Larking's films (including
Cityscape, Street Musique, Syrinx, and the influential Walking) are
noted for their flawless movement and timing along with their vivid
imaginings. Larkin worked with the National Film Board of Canada from
the early 1960s to late 1970s. In the 1980s, he worked on the animated
features Rock and Rule and Heavy Metal before giving up animation to
return to his first love, painting and sculpting. Today, Larkin paints,
draws, drums and dances. He is currently storyboarding his first
animated film in twenty years. The film will be a co-production of the
Ottawa Independent Filmmakers Cooperative and the Canadian Film
Institute.

| Chris Landreth is a renowned animator currently with Nelvana.
His films include the end (1995) and Bingo (1998). Both films have won recognition
and awards worldwide. the end was nominated for an Academy Award in 1996
for Best Animated Short Film. |

Pjotr Sapegin was born in Moscow, Russia, in 1955. He worked as a stage
designer in Russia in various theatres, managing to make about 60 performances in
15 years. In 1991 he moved to Norway and began working as an animator and director
of animated shorts. He was one of the founders of Studio Magica and made 12 short
films for children. By some luck he was awarded 26 times and even managed to be
nominated for Cartoon D'or in 1999. What a guy! Now he is working with the
company Zoofilm and making mostly experimental films, and is working as a fine
artist with paintings and staff. He also illustrated and co wrote a very very
good thick book for children in 1999. He has two sons living in Montreal who he is
very proud of because they are going to be great Canadian artists in the future.

Andrei Svislotski is a director, designer and animator with more than 15 years
of experience in the animation field. He studied fine art at the Moscow
Institute of Architecture and animation in the Multtelefilm, General Television
of USSR. His short film Hipnerotomachia (Pilot Studio, Moscow) was nominated
for Nika (The Russian Cinema Academy Award) and has been shown at animated
festivals around the world. In the USA his credits include The Rugrats Movie
(Paramount) as a sequence director, TV serials Aahhh! Real Monsters and Rocket
Power (Nickelodeon) as a director, Duckman (USA Network) as a storyboard
artist, and Bird in the Window (Klasky Csupo, Inc) as an animator.
