KromA Doubles the Pleasure for Coors Light Spot

In creating visual effects for a new Coors Light spot, KromA conjured up the unique visions of a man bent on doubling his pleasure.

Conceived by Chicago agency Foote, Cone & Belding and directed by HSI's Joseph Kahn, the spot centers on a man who gets a new pair of glasses not to see better just to see more. The glasses cause the man to experience double vision so that when he goes to the beach he sees twice the number of beautiful women. The spot is set to the Jan & Dean tune "Surf City," which includes the refrain "two girls for every boy."

Buena Vista Plans Chicken Little & Narnia Games

Buena Vista Games has announced that it is developing a videogame based on Walt Disney Pictures' first fully animated 3D feature film, CHICKEN LITTLE and live-action epic CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE. The games will be published by Disney Interactive for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, handheld and PC platforms. The first CHICKEN LITTLE title is slated for debut in summer 2005 to coincide with the release of the film in theaters. The first NARNIA game will hits shelves in fall 2005.

OutKast's Andre 3000 Get Cartoon Network Series

Cartoon Network is in development on a potential series with OutKast's Andre 3000, reports HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. The project will start out as an Adult Swim special, which will go to a series if successful.

Mike Lazzo, svp of Cartoon's "Adult Swim" program block, who at first was reluctant about working with the star, said, "I'm extremely wary of it, but in Andre's case, I think he is a creative genius. He has definite opinions of what he likes visually."

Rushes Soho Shorts Fest Extends Deadline

The Rushes Soho Shorts Festival has extended its deadline to May 19, 2004. The annual fest has become a highlight of London's film calendar. This year's event features free screenings of short-listed films will run in bars, cafés and cinemas throughout Soho. Once again, the Curzon Soho will host the delegate center, (sponsored by Fentimans Drinks), in addition to providing the venue for the ever-popular short film seminar, which is run in conjunction with the NPA.

E3 News: Infinium Labs Unveils Phantom Gaming Service

Infinium Labs Inc. will debut its Phantom Gaming Service -- the first end-to-end, on-demand game distribution service -- at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), in Los Angeles, May 12-14, 2004, at Booth 746 in the South Hall of the Los Angeles Convention Center. The new service will offer subscribers a library of titles and make them available any time, day or night. The company plans to provide the service hardware free of charge to consumers who sign a two-year contract for a basic subscription to its flagship online gaming service at $29.95 per month.

North American mobile subscribers using the T610/T616 or T630/T637 handsets will be able to purchase such single and multiplayer games as YAO MING BASKETBALL '04 PRESENTED BY FOX SPORTS, FOX SPORTS BOXING, FOX SPORTS FOOTBALL '04, FOX SPORTS HOCKEY '04, FOX SPORTS TRACK & FIELD '04, FOX SPORTS SOCCER '04, FOX SPORTS RACING, SHARK HUNT, 3D SLAM PING PONG, DURATRAX MOBILE RC and WILD 8-BALL. The games will be available in Q2 2004.

E3 News: NVIDIA & Epic Games Show Off Unreal Engine 3

NVIDIA Corp. and Epic Games announced the first public showing of the new game engine Unreal Engine 3 at this week's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). Unreal Engine 3 is the first game engine to take full advantage of Shader Model 3.0 -- a key feature of Microsoft DirectX 9.0 -- enabled only by the NVIDIA GeForce 6 Series of graphics processing units (GPUs). Created by Epic Games, Unreal Engine 3 advances lighting and shadowing capabilities, shader effects and editing tools.

Final Fantasy Game Gets DVD Sequel

In a unique move showing the increased fan following for videogame stories, Square Enix has announced that it will release a DVD sequel to its 1997 hit game, FINAL FANTASY VII, reports VARIETY. The CGI animated feature, FINAL FANTASY VII ADVENT CHILDREN, will continue the story of the game, which sold more than 9 million units worldwide. No release date has been set. The first move into film for this popular gaming franchise was the 2001 photoreal feature FINAL FANTASY, which was a disaster at the box office.

Nickelodeon will air the first five minutes of SHREK 2 on May 18, 2004 at 7:00 pm, the night before the DreamWorks film opens in theaters nationwide.

"Giving kids the opportunity to see something top secret reinforces Nickelodeon's relevance to kids," said Nickelodeon president Cyma Zarghami. "It's very exciting to offer kids an exclusive insider's look at one of the biggest pop culture events of the year."

Nickelodeon combines two of its most popular cartoon series for an hour-long special, THE JIMMY/TIMMY POWER HOUR. In it, the 2D FAIRLY ODDPARENTS' star Timmy Turner goes 3D in Retroville, the world of THE ADVENTUES OF JIMMY NEUTRON, BOY GENIUS while its 3D star, Jimmy Neutron, takes a 2D turn in ODDPARENTS Dimmsdale. The show premiered May 7, 2004 at 8:00 pm with encore presentations May 8 at 7:00 pm and May 9 at 5:00 pm.

THE JIMMY/TIMMY POWER HOUR will be released on DVD May 11.

Polar Express Goes 3D for IMAX

IMAX Corp. and Warner Bros. Pictures have struck a deal where the CGI feature, THE POLAR EXPRESS will screen in IMAX 3D format day-and-date with the release of the film in conventional theaters, Nov. 19, 2004. The film will be digitally converted into IMAX 3D using both the proprietary IMAX 3D conversion process and IMAX DMR(R) (Digitally Re-mastering) technology.
