Playhouse Disney Channel Launches in Brunei

Walt Disney Television Internationals dedicated preschool service, Playhouse Disney Channel, has launched on channel 63 of Bruneis multi-channel TV operator Kristal Astro, bringing the number of Playhouse Disney Channels in Asia to six.The other markets, of which have launched since April this year, are Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia and Indonesia

HI-WIRE Adds Jennifer Moore

Jennifer Moore has joined HI-WIRE in a newly created position of integrated services manager to focus on client development and services. Moore will be responsible for working with clients from concept through project management and completion, including advising on technology and overseeing job flow. She will work hand-in-hand with HI-WIRE managing producer Tammy Kimbler Weber.

Atari & Liquid Ent. Announce Dragonshard Realtime Strategy Game

Atari is to developing DRAGONSHARD, a realtime strategy game based on the DUNGEONS & DRAGONS universe created by Wizards of the Coast. Under license from Hasbro Inc., DRAGONSHARD will be the first game set in the exciting new D&D(R) campaign setting, EBERRON, a cinematic and war-torn world of action, adventure and intrigue where fantasy meets magical technology.

DRAGONSHARD is scheduled to be available for PC in spring 2005.

Bambi DVD Comes Out of the Forest on March 1

The long-awaited DVD release of Disney's BAMBI (1942) will arrive on March 1, 2005, according to Buena Vista Home Ent. in a two-disc set priced at $30. It has been eight years since the sublime masterpiece has been available for the home entertainment system. And while the studio is touting digitally restored picture for greater color and clarity, we will have to wait and see how well the DVD captures the natural effect of the original film.

CG Academy Releases AfterBurn Training DVDs

The CG Academy has releases its latest training DVD series, AFTERBURN MASTERS SET. The three DVD set, created by Allan McKay, includes Afterburn Fundamentals with its exploration of the Afterburn system and includes many examples of how to achieve real world effects. For example, it explores a production level effect of a fireball blasting down the aisle of a passenger jet, and concludes in air strike with a focus on making an effect be as procedural as possible so it can be re-used with ease on new shots, crucial for those on a tight schedule. The set sells for $210.

SEGA Enters China Market for Online Game Business

SEGA Corp. has announced plans to enter the Chinese market for online gaming. In preparation for full-scale business operations in China, the company has established a branch office in Shanghai -- SEGA (Shanghai) Software Co. SEGA views the Chinese a strategic market for growth in multiplayer online gaming market with more than 10 million online gamers. The company plans to establish the regional business through its local branch offices, with content designed to appeal to market-specific tastes and demand.

Two Towers Captures Six DVD Award Noms

The Special Extended DVD Edition of THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS, from New Line Home Ent., is the top contender in the 7th Annual DVD Awards with Leonard Maltin, leading all entries with six nominations. Disada Producing Peter Pan 100th Anniversary Show In Florida

Celebrating the 100th anniversary of the publication of the first PETER PAN book by James M. Barrie, Disada has been asked by the Venice Art Center in Florida, south of St. Petersburg, to curate a PETER PAN exhibition. It will consists of original items from the first release of the classic 1953 Walt Disney animated feature PETER PAN. Disada's large collection of animation includes more than 300 items from the 1953 release and the exhibition includes original artwork, various posters and publicity items, toys, publications, records and a grand variety of other items from 1953.
