SpongeBob to Air in China

Nickelodeons animated TV hit, SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS is set to splash down in 120 million Chinese households by years end via the dedicated children's channel of state-run broadcaster China Central Television, reports THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.

This would follow in the path of other Nick shows such as CATDOG and THE WILD THORNBERRYS.

SPONGEBOB, already syndicated in 170 markets in 24 languages, is expected to launch in China around Dec. 28, marking the one-year anniversary of the CCTV Children's Channel.

Mike Young Prods. & Gamania Digital Ent. To Produce Hero:108

Mike Young Prods. has signed a co-production deal with Asian online multiplayer publisher Gamania Digital Ent. for comedy/action property, HERO:108. The deal marks the first time a U.S./European based studio and Taiwanese content creator have joined forces to produce an original 22x30 animated series, aimed at kids 6-11 a show that will be designed to work seamlessly with online gaming.

Fox Set To Release Strawberry Shortcake Giftset

On Oct. 18, 2005, Fox Home Ent. will release a new STAWBERRY SHORTCAKE giftset. Los Angeles-based broadcast and interactive design firm Exopolis has completed the redesign of the Nicktoons Network, in preparation for the networks shift to a 24-hour a day, advertiser-supported channel. Exopolis redesign includes five promo packages, :30 fully animated network IDs, 20 navigational elements, multiple stand-alone animations, four logo animations and a 30-second fully-animated cross-channel spot called Three Headed Monster.

A Mild Fog Engulfs the Box Office

The remake of John Carpenters THE FOG (with vfx by Hydraulx) debuted at number one at the box office for the weekend ended Oct. 16, 2005, with Sony/Revolution collecting $11.7M. Coming in a very close second with $11.5M was DreamWorks/Aardmans WALLACE & GROMIT: THE CURSE OF THE WERE-RABBIT. The stop-motion gem (with vfx from MPC) now has a two-week cume of $33.1M. Debuting in third place was Cameron Crowes romantic comedy, ELIZABETHTOWN (with vfx from Digital Filmworks and Flash Film Works), which offered up $10.6M to Paramount.

A52 Delves More into CG for Honda Civic Spot

A52 served as the director for a recent HD spot titled Keyhole, as part of advertising agency RPAs massive year-long multiplatform marketing campaign for the all-new 2006 Honda Civic.

A52s collective features the talents of CG/vfx supervisor Andrew Hall and co-vfx supervisor Pat Murphy, and also relies upon the creative involvement of Rock Paper Scissors editor Angus Wall.

DIC Goes Public in the U.K.

DIC Ent. has gone public on London's AIM market under the symbol DEKEq.L. The stock became available on Oct. 14, 2005, and by closing was up 3% at 255-1/2 pence, giving DIC a market capitalization of about 108 million pounds ($188.8 million). DIC raised 17.4 million pounds as part of the listing and shareholders saw a further 13 million by selling down their stakes. Bridgewell serves as an adviser and broker to DIC.

Taffy Ent. has signed a deal with Korean-based Sunwoo Ent. to distribute Sunwoo's hot new anime style series, MIXMASTER: THE KING OF CARDS.
