Two Canadian original series return to the YTV schedule with new seasons

(September 2, 2010 – Toronto, Canada) Corus Entertainment, Canada’s largest kids’ broadcaster, is jam-packed with new and returning series and themed programming in celebration of Halloween and Thanksgiving this October. Highlights include the premiere of Kyle XY as well as Season 2 premieres of original favourites In Real Life and the sketch comedy series That’s So Weird! 

YTV October 2010 Highlights

Kyle XY – New Series

Kyle (Matt Dallas) is a mysterious teenage boy who by his actions, appears to be a newborn. When Kyle is placed in an institution, psychologist Nicole Trager (Marguerite MacIntyre) realizes that he will need special attention so she decides to bring him home, much to the chagrin of her two children and husband Stephen (Bruce Thomas). However, over time, Kyle becomes part of the family and begins to experience everyday things like computers, music and even high school parties. This ABC Family series premieres on Monday, October 4 at 9 p.m.

Season 2 Premieres

In Real Life – Season 2

Host Sabrina Jalees returns to guide 18 new kids aged 12 to 14, as they race across North America to compete in heart-pounding, real world challenges for a chance to win college tuition and an all expense paid family vacation in Season 2 of In Real Life. Viewers can also join the race in an online game “Race to the Finish” which allows kids at home to ally with a virtual avatar of their favourite on-air contestant. The participant whose avatar has the most points by the end of the series wins the chance to get back in the game and compete in an exclusive online webisode bonus finale on YTV.com. Produced by Apartment 11 Productions in association with YTV, Season 2 premieres Monday, October 4 at 7 p.m.

That’s So Weird! – Season 2

YTV’s sketch comedy series, That’s So Weird! is back with an all new season this October. With guest appearances by favourite actors, athletes, musicians and superheroes, this sketch comedy series will provide a weekly slice of outrageousness for kids and their parents. To top it all off, viewers can also visit YTV.com for never-before-seen clips from the show. Produced by Halifax Film in association with YTV, Season 2 of That’s So Weird! begins on Wednesday, October 6 at 6:30 p.m.

Halloween

YTV will be celebrating Halloween this year with two whole weeks chock full of scary movies and specials beginning on Saturday, October 16 to Sunday, October 31. Halloween highlights include:

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

In this trick-or-treating classic which debuted on network television in 1966, the perpetually lonely Charlie Brown is thrilled he has been invited to a costume party. Meanwhile, Linus skips trick or treating to camp out in the pumpkin patch, waiting for The Great Pumpkin to rise and deliver presents to all the good little boys and girls. And be sure to listen for Charlie Brown’s classic line, “I got a rock”. This Halloween special airs Saturday, October 30 at 7 p.m.

Garfield’s Halloween Adventure

Garfield gets into the Halloween spirit by dressing up as a pirate and making Odie one of his crewmen in Garfield’s Halloween Adventure. On their journey they end up at a haunted house that’s filled with real pirates back from the grave in search of treasure – now it’s up to pirate Garfield to get himself and first mate Odie out of hot water. This Halloween special airs Saturday, October 30 at 7:30 p.m.

Beginning on Monday, October 4, YTV.com will give viewers the chance to vote for their favourite scary game in the Halloween Game Spook-off. Each week, visitors to the site will be invited to play 16 Halloween-themed games. Users will vote up the games they deem scary enough to move ahead until just two titles are left to battle it out for the Spook-off crown. The winning game will be announced on Friday, October 29.

Halloween

Nick is celebrating Halloween all weekend long with themed episodes of viewers’ favourite Nick series. Beginning on Friday, October 29, fans won’t want to miss episodes of SpongeBob SquarePants, Fanboy & Chum Chum and The Troop as well as the premiere of True Jackson, VP: True Fear.

True Jackson, VP: True Fear – Premiere

True (Keke Palmer) is forced to conquer her fear of public speaking when asked to give a speech to her entire school. Meanwhile, Ryan (Matt Shively) is convinced Mad Style’s new male model from Transylvania is a vampire. True Jackson, VP: True Fear premieres on Friday, October 29 at 4:30 p.m. 

October 2010 Highlights

Waybuloo – New Episodes

For an entire week, Treehouse presents five premiere episodes of the beloved preschool series Waybuloo. Beginning on Monday, October 18 at 3 p.m. with Waybuloo: Enormous Neepnip, viewers can enjoy a new episode at 3 p.m. every day until Friday, October 22.

Barbie : A Fashion Fairytale - Premiere

In this new Barbie adventure, Barbie must leave behind her acting career and her friend Ken to travel to Paris to help her Aunt Millie who runs a fashion house that is about to close due to a slew of bad reviews. Together with Aunt Millie’s assistant Alecia, Barbie enlists the help of some magical fashion fairy muses to hold a fashion show of Alecia’s new designs. Before the designs are complete, however, the fairies are kidnapped and Barbie, Alecia and Aunt Millie must complete the show on their own. Barbie: A Fashion Fairytale premieres Saturday, October 9 at 5 p.m.
