Yogi Leaving Jellystone Park For Hollywood, Taking Pic-a-nic Baskets

Warner Bros. is in development on a YOGI BEAR feature film, per THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. Ash Brannon (co-director and co-writer of SURF'S UP) will direct.

The classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon will be a hybrid of live action and animation much like Fox's ALVIN & THE CHIPMUNKS and GARFIELD: THE MOVIE. A CG Yogi Bear and sidekick Boo Boo will live in a live-action world.

Joshua Sternin and Jeffrey Ventimilia are writing the screenplay. The duo also are writing TOOTH FAIRY for Fox. Jon Berg is overseeing for WB, Donald De Line is producing under his De Line Pictures and Karen Rosenfelt is producing.

In Yogi and Boo Boo's show, the duo get into good-natured mischief in Jellystone Park, stealing picnic baskets (off limits to bears) while eluding Ranger Smith. The original cartoon debuted in 1961, although Yogi appeared as a supporting character in THE HUCKLEBERRY HOUND SHOW in 1958.

Brannon has also worked on Pixar's TOY STORY 2 as co-director, character designer and animator and on A BUG'S LIFE as a story artist.

YOGI BEAR has been in syndication for decades, including a current run on Cartoon Network's sister channel Boomerang.
