XXX 3 Jumps from Columbia to Paramount

Deadline.com reports that Joe Roth’s Revolution Studios is moving the XXX franchise from Columbia to Paramount, which would fund and distribute the third film in 3-D. Paramount hopes to have the new film in theaters by late 2011, early 2012.

Rob Cohen will return as the director with Roth producing alongside Neal Moritz, as well as star Vin Diesel and Samantha Vincent via their One Race Productions.

In this installment, Xander Cage (Diesel), who was left for dead, reconnects with his handler Agent Augustus Gibbons (Samuel L. Jackson) to tackle a mission in Europe only he can accomplish.

Cohen has been on and off the project. Last summer he left the film to work on MEDIEVAL for New Regency. However, the Middle Age actioner was put on hold so the production would skip the tourist season in Dubrovnik, Croatia, where they plan to shoot in the village’s authentic medieval setting.
