X-Men Take Over More International Theatres

The X-MEN are gaining more ground in international theatres with top seat debuts in France, U.K. and Brazil. In France, the superhero saga racked up an impressive US$5.83 million in its opening weekend. Holding steady at #2, Americas summer smash, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 2, amassed another $2.65 million, bringing its French cume to $23.18 million. THE PERFECT STORM sank from first to fourth, with a gross of $2.33 million, raising its French cume to $6.77 million. Falling a spot to land in sixth, GLADIATOR garnered $861,846, advancing its French cume to $29.59 million. FINAL DESTINATION crash landed in ninth, with a gross of $333,941, lifting its French cume to $4.97 million. Plummeting three spots to finish tenth, THE PATRIOT piled up $330,256, elevating its cume to $7.39 million. Over in the U.K., X-MEN excavated $3.68 million from Friday to Sunday and gathered a whopping $11.67 million since its debut Wednesday. Holding on to second, STUART LITTLE landed another $1.07 million, escalating its British cume to $21.17 million. CHICKEN RUN moved back up to third with a gross of $839,080, raising its total take in the U.K. to $38.15 million. GONE IN 60 SECONDS tumbled to fourth, adding $696,397 to its $8.37 million British cume. Anchored in fifth, PERFECT STORM washed up another $491,066, bringing its British cume to $11.67 million. Staked out in seventh, M:I 2 made another $230,840, lifting its British cume to $16.88 million. After 14 weeks in the U.K., GLADITOR moves back up a slot to finish in eighth, grossing an additional $187,265, elevating its cume to $44.68 million. Closing out the top ten, THE FLINTSTONES VIVA ROCK VEGAS rolled up another $174,105, bringing its British cume to $2.21 million. In addition, X-MEN excited Brazilians to the tune of $2.64 million. Down one to second, 60 SECONDS raced in with $1.12 million, advancing its Brazilian cume to $3.11 million. Also down one, thus landing at #4, THE PATRIOT piled up another $423,603, lifting its Brazilian cume to $4.17 million. In fourth, DINOSAUR gathered $137,771, raising its Brazilian cume to $7.9 million. M:I 2 surfaced in fifth with a gross of $86,386, bringing its cume to $8.81 million. Falling two slots to seventh, POKEMON 2000 collected $83,357, elevating its Brazilian cume to $2.27 million. In eighth, GLADIATOR garnered an additional $58,197, raising its Brazilian cume to $8.3 million. Slipping two to finish in tenth, THE ROAD TO EL DORADO grabbed $26,288, lifting its Brazilian cume to $843,899.
