X-Men Invade Overseas: Patriot Gone In 60 Seconds

This weeks international box office saw big premieres for X-MEN and GONE IN 60 SECONDS and the quick disappearance of THE PATRIOT. In the U.K., X-MEN hit it big with a stellar US$7.08 million three-day take. The mighty mutants had the second highest opening of the year behind TOY STORY 2 and the eighth highest in the countrys history. Holding on at #2, STUART LITTLE landed another $1.11 million, lifting its British cume to $20.24 million. GONE IN 60 SECONDS slipped from first to third, with a gross of $952,847, raising its British cume to $7.95 million. Staying steady in 4th, CHICKEN RUN laid another $937,136, advancing its total take in the U.K. to $37.56 million. THE PERFECT STORM sank to fifth, with a gross of $671,729, escalating its British cume to $11.25 million. Down from 5th to 7th, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 2 raked in $338,650, bringing its British cume to $24.91 million. Falling a slot to 9th, GLADIATOR garnered $221,610, elevating its cume to $44.79 million. Finishing off the top ten in the U.K. was FLINTSTONES VIVA ROCK VEGAS, adding $185,271 to its cume of $2.05 million. In Sweden, X-MEN remained the top hero with a gross of $290,321, which morphed its cume to $1.12 million. Slipping a spot to 3rd, THE PATRIOT piled up another $215,236, raising its Swedish cume to $1.04 million. Holding steady in 4th, M:I 2 brought home an additional $141,655, advancing its Swedish cume to $2.78 million. In a disappointing debut, PERFECT STORM finished in 5th, with a gross of $115,724. Falling one to #6, GLADIATOR grossed $90,036, bringing its Swedish cume to $4.38 million. Skidding in at #7, 60 SECONDS scored $85,900, lifting its Swedish cume to $2.54 million. The Oscar-winning best film, AMERICAN BEAUTY, brought in $27,104 in 8th place, escalating its Swedish cume to $4.58 million. Premieres in Germany, Spain and Brazil proved lucrative for Buena Vistas GONE IN 60 SECONDS. The car-theft thriller rounded up $3.45 million in Germany. Holding on to #2, CHICKEN RUN roosted another $1.27 million, lifting its German cume to $3.32 million. Falling from first to third, PATRIOT piled up another $1.18 million, elevating its German cume to $7.93 million. Surfacing in 6th, PERFECT STORM summoned an additional $359,335, floating its German cume to $10.23 million. TITAN A.E. fell from 5th to 7th, adding $320,875 to its $1.03 million German cume. In at #8, M:I 2 tallied up $298,117, advancing its German cume to $23.57 million. In Spain, the debut of 60 SECONDS brought in an impressive $2.2 million. Falling from first to third, PATRIOT scrounged up $880,749, bringing its Spanish cume to $2.22 million. Down 2 slots to #4, M:I 2 racked up $847,093, raising its Spanish cume to $2 million. Not fairing so well in the Spanish market, GLADITOR grossed another $424,738, lifting its 11-week cume to only $1.55 million. After one full week in Spain, VIVA ROCK VEGAS plummeted from 4th to seventh, with a gross of $235,098, bringing its cume to $894,831. In at 8th, STUART LITTLE landed $235,098, lifting its Spanish cume to $607,125. Finishing 9th, SOUTH PARK: BIGGER, LONGER & UNCUT rounded up $191,331, bringing its Spanish cume to $427,854. In its Brazilian debut, 60 SECONDS raced into first place with a gross of $2 million. PATRIOT fell to second, with a gross of $751,455, elevating its cume to $3.77 million. DINOSAUR dropped to #3, with a ticket take of $285,278, bringing its Brazilian cume to a lofty $7.8 million. Slipping a slot to 4th, POKEMON 2000 captured $202,491, lifting its Brazilian cume to $2.2 million. In at #6, M:I 2 added another $165,498 to its $8.78 million Brazilian cume. At 7th, GLADIATOR garnered $108,883, raising its Brazilian cume to $8.29 million. Sinking a spot to 8th, THE ROAD TO EL DORADO danced in another $56,423, bringing its Brazilian cume to $822,179.
