Jake Mandeville-Anthony, a U.K. screenwriter, has filed suit against Disney and Pixar claiming that the studios' CARS was taken from work he submitted to the studio in the early 1990s, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The writer wants the court to halt the release of CARS 2 on June 24.

Mandeville-Anthony submitted his three-part script COOKIE & CO. about the racecar driver Michael Owen Perkins, and a treatment for an animated CARS film to various studios, including Disney. In 1993, he met with Lucasfilm executive Jim Morris and presented the two projects. In 2005, Morris became the general manager of Pixar, the suit points out.

This lawsuit in the U.S. is the second filed by the writer. He and Disney*Pixar have been working out a lawsuit in the U.K. privately. A judgment in that case is under seal.

Mandeville-Anthony is seeking actual or statutory damages for copyright infringement and breach of implied contract.
