Press Release from Workshop

NYC-based WORKSHOP, a new agency/production model in partnership with COLLECTIVE the production company, just finished concepting, writing and producing web content introducing the innovative Nikon COOLPIX S80. WORKSHOP handled the entire project from concept to completion, including the concept, scripts, live action production and post of a 1:30 web video showcasing the camera's array of fun features.

"If Nikon hadn't chosen WORKSHOP for this project, they would have had to go to an agency that would have in turn had to recruit a production house, an edit team, music and sound design professionals, and a postproduction company," noted WORKSHOP Partner/CD Arthur Bijur. "This is absolutely the agency model of the future. With an in-house production capability, WORKSHOP is set to create concepts and go as soon as the creative is approved, so we can execute projects faster and more efficiently than those agencies that have to rely on outside help."

The project's centerpiece is a video, tailor made to appeal to a young, hip female demographic with disposable income and lifestyle that call for a compact, high-quality, easy-to-use, video-and-photo-capable camera. COLLECTIVE Director David McNamara directed WORKSHOP's concept, which featured a trio of young upscale women gallivanting about town, laughing, dancing, and flirting with the eligible bachelor they meet along the way. Shooting videos and snapping endless photos of one another, the movie positions the girls so that they show off the camera's sleek design, compact size, zoom, touch screen, HD capabilities, and ability to adeptly shoot both still and moving objects.

Nikon had been so pleased with previous work McNamara had done for them that they approached him for to help with a portion of the site. He, in turn, promoted his relationship with WORKSHOP and touted the agency's capabilities. "When Nikon learned about WORKSHOP's full-service capabilities through David, they knew we'd be a perfect fit," continued Bijur. "Everyone is very happy with the way this one turned out, and we're looking forward to taking on similar comprehensive projects in the future."
