Wondercon 2015: DreamWorks Animation Showcases New Netflix Series

Thirteen-episode run of ‘Dragons: Race to the Edge’ will serve as a prequel to the second installment of the beloved ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ franchise.

'Dragons: Race to the Edge'

WonderCon 2015 just ended on Sunday in Anaheim, CA and DreamWorks Animation was at the event to show off two of the studio’s new original series set to air exclusively on Netflix. DWA head of current programming Kelly Kulchak led the presentation for the How to Train Your Dragon-themed Dragons: Race to the Edge, and Dinotrux, an all-new series based on Chris Gall's award-winning children’s book series.

Deathsong

Following season one’s Riders of Berk and season two’s Defenders of Berk, the 13-episode run of Dragons: Race to the Edge will serve as a prequel to the second installment of the beloved franchise. In addition to featuring all the regular characters, new dragons such as the Deathsong -- also revealed in DWA’s Twitter feed -- will be introduced.

Dinotrux features hybrid dinosaur-construction characters set “in a fantastical world filled with lush forests and lava-flowing volcanoes.” The series follows the adventures of two unlikely best friends -- Ty, a massive and fiercely loyal T-Trux with a big vision for a new world, and his best buddy Revvit, a razor-smart Reptool who is the engineering brains of the operation -- as they navigate the mechanical domain ruled by oversize creatures like Tyrannosaurus Trux, Scraptors and Tow-a-constrictors.
