Wizart Announces New Sales at EFM

Russian animation studio’s ‘Snow Queen 2’ slated for theatrical release in Brazil.

Wizart Animation, one of Russia’s fastest growing animation studios, has announced it has closed new deals during the European Film Market. Wizart’s projects were presented at the Russian Cinema stand, organized by Cinema Fund of Russia. The Snow Queen (2012) will air in South Africa, The Snow Queen 2 (2014) rights were sold to Brazil with wide theatrical release, Bulgaria, France and Germany and Urfin and His Wooden Soldiers (2016), produced by Melnitsa Animation theatrical rights were sold to Middle East countries.  

Indigenous Film Distribution has acquired The Snow Queen theatrical rights to South Africa. To date, Wizart’s The Snow Queen (2012) has been released in 70 countries around the world including major territories such as the US, the UK, France, Germany, Australia and New Zealand, Japan, S. Korea, Brazil, Middle East, Benelux, Former Yugoslavia, Poland, Israel, Turkey, etc. This year The Snow Queen will be released in China with 3000 screens.

Conquest Filmes has secured the rights for The Snow Queen 2 for Brazil and is planning a wide theatrical release. “We are excited to release the Snow Queen 2 in Brazil and would like to explore other Lat Am territories with Wizart,” said Rubens Aranha, CEO from Coquest Filmes. 

After a tremendous success of the first Snow Queen movie in Bulgaria, Bulgarian distributor Pro Films has acquired the rights for the sequel.

The following territories will enjoy The Snow Queen 2 release this year: France (DVD rights were acquired by Universal through KLB), Germany and Austria (DVD rights were acquired by Elite Film AG), Israel, Australia and New Zealand, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand.

At EFM Wizart started presales of it’s brand new distribution 3D project Urfin and His Wooden Soldiers (2016) produced by Russian animation studio Melnitsa Animation which recent movie Tri Bogatyrya: Khod Konyom (Three Heroes: Gambit) has grossed $14.4 million and is this year's highest-grossing local film to date. Theatrical rights for the Middle East have been sold to Shooting Stars.
