British thespian Ray Winstone, who was recently seen in the Oscar winner THE DEPRATED, has joined the cast of INDIANA JONES 4, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. Though the plot is being kept secret, sources told the trade pub that Winstone will play Indy's sidekick. Winstone joins a cast that already includes Harrison Ford and Cate Blanchett.
Produced by Lucasfilm, directed by Steven Spielberg and written by David Koepp, the film is set to start lensing in June in Los Angeles followed by various hush-hush locales around the globe. Paramount Pictures has marked May 22, 2008 for the film's worldwide release.
Frank Marshall will produce while George Lucas and Kathleen Kennedy executive produce.
Winstone will next be in Sony's performance capture/animated feature BEOWULF. His other credits include BREAKING AND ENTERING, THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE, COLD MOUNTAIN and SEXY BEAST.
