Win $20,000 in Screenwriting Expo Screenplay Competition

The Screenwriting Expo Screenplay Competition offers more than $150,000 in prizes and a $50,000 production deal. This year the competition has added a television category. The grand-prize winner will receive $20,000 cash, a trip to Los Angeles to attend Screenwriting Expo 6, plus $1,000 in semifinalist prizes. Screenwriting Expo will also award four genre category prizes, which includes $2,500 cash, a trip to L.A. for the event, plus $1,000 in semifinalist prizes. The genre categories include: action/adventure, comedy, thriller, sci-fi, family, animation, horror, fantasy and new vision for low budget indies. In the short screenplay category, the winner receives a $1,000 top prize and one writer wins a spot in the Duke City Shootout where he/she is flown to Albuquerque and given a crew, high-definition camera, equipment, post-production facilities, the option to direct and a professional mentor to help through the process of turning his/her script into a movie. For television, the contest will award $1,000 to the best hour-long and best half-hour TV script. Writers will also be given creative and career counseling and access to television agents and managers. Additionally, comicbook studio Dabel Brothers Prods. will turn one script into a graphic novel with a budget of $50,000. All 20 semifinalists will receive John Truby's Blockbuster software, notes from The Script Whisperer, admittance to Expo 6 and a subscription to CREATIVE SCREENWRITING magazine.
