3Dlabs Inc. Ltd. has released the Wildcat Realizm 800 PCI Express-based professional graphics accelerator, which beat competitors on six SPECViewperf 8.0.1 benchmark viewsets when compared to other PCI Express solutions. This achievement follows the recent 3Dlabs announcement that the very attractively priced Wildcat Realizm 100 AGP 8x-based graphics accelerator scored highest on seven Viewperf 8.0.1 benchmark viewsets when compared to other AGP 8x solutions. The Wildcat Realizm 800 is available for purchase through 3Dlabs OEMs, worldwide network of Wildcat System Integrators, Resellers and VARs for $2,799.
3Dlabs Wildcat Realizm 800 achieves the highest performance numbers over any single professional graphics accelerator and is soon to become the defacto standard for performance in professional graphics, said Jerry Peterson, evp/gm of 3Dlabs. With dual VPU power and these Viewperf 8.0.1 benchmark scores, Wildcat Realizm 800 is the product that our OEMs, resellers and customers have been waiting to get their hands on...
Alias is the first software vendor to certify the Wildcat Realizm 800. With amazing responsiveness, the Wildcat Realizm 800 handles large models directly from the viewport screen, said Rob Hoffmann, senior product marketing manager for Maya at Alias. This alone will greatly improve the way Maya artists interact with the software and ultimately make them more productive.
The Wildcat Realizm 800 professional graphics accelerator boasts two Visual Processing Units (VPU) and a Vertex/Scalability Unit (VSU) that power through complex rendering tasks and handles millions of polygons in real time. Also, 3Dlabs recently released Linux 32-bit and 64-bit drivers for the entire Wildcat Realizm family. Microsoft Windows XP 32-bit drivers are available to enable faster performance and overall graphics throughput for increased end-user productivity. Windows XP 64-bit drivers are planned for release in the next few months.
The Wildcat Realizm 800 professional graphics accelerators fully programmable architecture and 640 MB of onboard GDDR3 graphics memory enable CAD, DCC, visualization and simulation professionals to experience previously unachievable workstation performance. All Wildcat Realizm products support OpenGL Shading Language and Microsoft DirectX HLSL shader programs. Wildcat Realizm 800 has two, dual-link DVI-I connectors to drive two independent displays with any combination of analog and digital displays. With the optional Wildcat Realizm Multiview Option Kit that sells at $650, customers will gain Framelock and Genlock capabilities, which synchronizes screen refresh rates and frame rates.
