VARIETY reports that Nintendo plans to drop the price of the Wii next week, leading up to the holiday season. The company will sell the popular console for $199 instead of $249. This action follows recent price drops for Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's PlayStation 3. Nintendo hopes the price cut will keep sales brisk until they release an HD version of the system, planned for 2011.
