Weiss Up To VP Of Nick Jr.

Teri Weiss has been promoted from exec in charge of production to vp of Nick Jr., responsible for overseeing Nick Jr. signature shows, including DORA THE EXPLORER and BLUE'S CLUES plus several pilots in development.

"Teri's creativity and her dedication to diversity, combined with her keen planning and passion for children's television, will continue to be an asset at Nick Jr.," said Brown Johnson, evp of Nick Jr., to whom Weiss will continue to report in New York City.

Weiss, who joined Nickelodeon in 1999, has had many accomplishments at Nick Jr., including her role in launching DORA THE EXPLORER and BOB THE BUILDER, and shepherding DORA through 100 episodes. She also manages the creative for a number of acquisitions, including MAX & RUBY. Her most recent project marks Nick Jr.'s entry into the baby home video market.

Weiss began her career in television at Comedy Central working on RICH HALL'S ONION WORLD, ALAN HAVEY'S NIGHT AFTER NIGHT and the sports comedy series, SPORTSMONSTER. Later she worked on several children's series, including Where IN THE WORLD IS CARMEN SANDIEGO? and SQUARE ONE TV. Before joining Nick Jr. she was a producer at Sesame Street, where she commissioned animation and films, served as an assoc director and produced three original title home videos. She has received two Emmy Awards and three Parent's Choice awards for her work at Sesame Street.
