Weinstein Co. Acquires Piccolo, Saxo & Company

The Weinstein Co. has acquired North American rights to the 3D animated feature PICCOLO, SAXO AND COMPANY, based on the best-selling musical childrens story. Marco Villamizar directed the film from a screenplay written by Isabelle De Catalogne and Juliette Sales. Carole Scotta from Haut & Court and Roch Lener from Millimages produced the film.

Inspired by the musical works of Andre Popp in 1956, the film tells the story of a far away planet on which musical instruments live. The main characters, Piccolo and Saxo, together with other band members, go on a quest for finding the musical notes and some other instruments that were stolen by an evil doctor who is dreaming to build himself an Ideal Instrument.

The rights were acquired from international sales agent Films Distribution and Nicholas Brigaud Robert negotiated the deal on their behalf.
