WBA Gets Goes Action-Adventure With Poindexter

Roland Poindexter has been named to the new position of svp of action-adventure properties for Warner Bros. Animation, responsible for developing this programming for broadcast, cable and made-for-video outlets. Poindexter will also be responsible for supervising creative direction of selected current series in all genres and developing animated specials for kids, as well as adults.

The 12-year TV and online programming/creative exec has two Emmy-Award-winning and six number one rated kids series. He reports directly to Sander Schwartz, WBA president.

Animation.

Prior to WBA, Poindexter was vp of programming and entertainment for Black Entertainment Television, where he produced more than 250 hours of reality programming for the cable networks primetime schedule, including the hit series HOW IM LIVING. Poindexter was vp of development for Eruptor.com, an online entertainment destination for teens.

Previously, Poindexter served as vp/head of programming for Fox Kids in 1998, where he was director of programming in 1993. During his tenure at Fox Kids, he served as principal creative exec for GODZILLA: THE SERIES, NASCAR RACERS and SPIDERMAN: UNLIMITED. He also was principal development and production exec for WHERE ON EARTH IS CARMEN SANDIEGO?, C-BEAR & JAMAL and THE ADVENTURES OF BATMAN AND ROBIN.

Before Fox Kids, Poindexter was manager of development for Nelvana Entertainment, having started his career in creative development with ABC.
