The WB Has Grandma, Grinch & Scooby-Doo Over For the Holidays

The WB has a trio of holiday specials in December.

GRANDMA GOT RUN OVER BY A REINDEER will air Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005, from 7:00-8:00 pm ET. Based on the 1979 song with music and lyrics by Randy Brooks, the special is a goofy and heartwarming holiday escapade. Young Jake Spankenheimers beloved Grandma goes missing on Christmas Eve. To the disbelief of his doting parents, rebellious sister and fun-loving Grandpa, Jake sets out on the quest of a lifetime to save the family store from his conniving, greedy cousin Mel, track down Grandmaand prove that Santa Claus is indeed real.

This lively, outrageous comedy features the voices of musician, writer, composer Elmo Shropshire (a.k.a. Dr. Elmo) as both the Narrator and Grandpa Spankenheimer; Michele Lee (KNOTS LANDING) as Jakes greedy Cousin Mel; Sue Blu (THE SMURFS) as Grandma Spankenheimer; Jim Staahl as Santa Claus; and newcomer Alex Doduk as Jake. There are five songs in the special, including the title song, as well as Grandmas Killer Fruitcake, Grandmas Spending Christmas With the Superstars and Grandpas Gonna Sue the Pants Off Santa, co-written by Shropshire and Rita Abrams; and Feels Like Christmas, co-written by Shropshire and Pam Wendell.

GRANDMA GOT RUN OVER BY A REINDEER is directed by six-time Emmy Award-winning animation artist Phil Roman (THE SIMPSONS, PEANUTS specials). Jim Fisher and Jim Staahl (BOBBYS WORLD) wrote the script from a story by Fred A. Rappoport (I LOVE LUCY 50TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL, AFIS 100 YEARS100 MOVIES specials), Shropshire, Fisher and Staahl. The special is exec produced by Rappoport and Roman, and produced by Noel Roman, Fisher and Staahl. Atomic Prods. created the storyboard and design animation. Nathan Wang is the composer. Susan Blu and Ginny McSwain are the voice directors. Gary Chase and Michele Lee provide the vocals for the songs.

DR. SEUSS HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS will broadcast Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2005, from 8:00-8:30 pm ET. In this beloved 1966 animated tale, adapted from the childrens book by best-selling author Dr. Seuss, tells the classic holiday story about a mean and bitter old Grinch who dislikes holiday cheer so much that he decides to steal Christmas away from all the Whos in Whoville. Narration and the Grinchs voice provided by Boris Karloff.

A SCOOBY-DOO CHRISTMAS will air Friday, Dec. 16, 2005, from 8:30-9:00 pm ET. In the first primetime holiday special from Scooby-Doo and friends, A SCOOBY-DOO CHRISTMAS, the Scooby Gang stumbles upon the quaint town of Winter Hollow, where they quickly discover that strangers are not welcome and Christmas is not even discussed due to the frightening presence of a ghostly headless snowman who appears every Yuletide to destroy peoples houses, along with their holiday joy. Shaggy and Scooby, along with Fred, Daphne and Velma, all spend a chilling Christmas Eve trying to solve the mystery of the snowman and return the spirit of Christmas back to Winter Hollow.
