WB Buys TT Games

Warner Bros. Home Ent. Group announced it has entered into an agreement to acquire TT Games, which encompasses Traveller's Tales, one of the world's largest independent game developers, and TT Games Publishing, the U.K.-based game publisher behind the LEGO STAR WARS videogames and BIONICLE HEROES.

TT Games was formed in 2005 with the merger of the developer Traveller's Tales and publisher Giant Interactive Ent. Traveller's Tales has been making games for more than 18 years, with over 42 million copies sold to date across all major platforms. The first title to be published by TT Games was the award-winning LEGO STAR WARS: THE VIDEOGAME, which sold more than six million units worldwide.

TT Games has two primary operations: game development, which continues to be known as Traveller's Tales, and publishing, which is known as TT Games Publishing.

"After 18 years in the videogames industry, the opportunity to become a meaningful part of the world's leading entertainment company is the fulfillment of a dream," said Jon Burton, managing director of Traveller's Tales. "Now that we are part of Warner Bros., I think it's safe to say we are exactly where we want to be."

TT Games will continue to manage its existing relationships with LEGO, LucasArts, and Guinness World Records.

The closing of the acquisition is subject to the fulfillment of customary terms and conditions, including regulatory approval.
