Watch These Stunning Trailers for ‘So Many Forests’

Based on the poem “Tant de forêts” by Jacques Prévert, animated short by Burcu Sakur and Geoffrey Godet was given the Cristal Award for best TV Production at Annecy 2014.

Here for your viewing pleasure are two stunning trailers for So Many Forests (Tant de Forets), the award-winning animated short film directed by Burcu Sakur and Geoffrey Godet.

The short film is based on the poem “Tant de forêts” by Jacques Prévert, which addresses the irony of the fact that newspapers warn us about deforestation although they themselves are made of paper.

Produced at Tant Mieux Productions for broadcast on France 3, So Many Forests received the Cristal Award for a TV Production at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival earlier this year. The short is part of “Leaving School,” a collection of short animations based on Prévert poems by young filmmakers coming out of school.

The film’s illustrative style as seen in the two trailers employs beautiful use of color, depth and geometry reminiscent of mid-Century Modernist artist Charley Harper. Watch them in the players below:
