Warren Franklin Joins Rainmaker as President of Animation & VFX

Warren Franklin joins Rainmaker LP as president of Animation & Visual Effects. He will be responsible for expanding the award-winning television effects team, to continue Rainmaker LP's growth in vfx for feature film and in building a feature animation studio to handle production of computer-generated animated films.

Franklin got his start as a production coordinator at Industrial Light & Magic in 1979 and was bumped to lead the company as vp/gm in 1984, spearheading its growth and dominance as the film industry's premiere vfx company. During that time, he founded the ILM computer graphics department that created groundbreaking digital effects for THE ABYSS THE TERMINATOR and JURASSIC PARK. After creating Lucasfilm Ent. Group in 1989, he managed the group's six divisions, including ILM, LucasArts Games and Skywalker Sound.

In 1992, Franklin made a move to Colossal Pictures to oversee the company's animation studio, television/feature film, new media and commercial divisions. There he supervised development of the first realtime digital character for the Cartoon Network as well as MTV's LIQUID TELEVISION and AEON FLUX. Franklin held subsequent positions at Cinesite and Pinnacle Studios.

Rainmaker is an unincorporated open-ended limited purpose trust, which is located in Vancouver, British Columbia. Rainmaker, through its predecessors, was established in 1979 and is one of North America's leading film and video post-production organizations using innovative technology, superior service and world-class talent to design, build and shape content for film, television and new media productions.
