Warner Bros. has prevailed in its long court battle with MORTAL KOMBAT producer Lawrence Kasanoff over the profits of the 1995 film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Kasanoff and his Threshold Ent. filed suit in 2008 claiming that Warners owed him $9.3 million in profit participations.

In December, Judge Ronald M. Sohigian in a bench trial awarded Kasanoff only $14,000 and ruled Warner Bros. the "prevailing party," which allowed them to recover court costs from Kasanoff. The latest ruling said that the bench trial negated all other claims, so the case must be thrown out.

Threshold plans to appeal. The thrown out suit only covers accounting for 2000-2004. Another lawsuit from the company covers 2004-2008 and that case is still pending. Additionally, Kasanoff filed suit in 2009 against Warner Bros. when it purchased Midway Games, which created the MORTAL KOMBAT games, regarding the transaction's effect on his rights to the characters.
