Warner Bros. has bought a project chronicling of the U.S.' deadliest natural disaster, from writer Daniel Sussman and producer Polly Johnsen, reports Risky Business. GALVESTON details the tragedy that surrounded a Category 4 hurricane sweeping through Galveston, Texas on Sept. 8, 1900, which resulted in the death of 8,000 people. On the human side of the tale, Sussman's script follows a love triangle and the power struggles of local bureaucracies.
Polymorphic Pictures' Johnsen hatched the idea. Sarah Schechter and Chris Gary will shepherd for WB.
