Ward to Oversee DreamWorks Animation Theme Park & Location-Based Ent.

DreamWorks Animation has brought on board theme park operation and marketing exec Joel Ward to fill the start-up position newly created to helm theme park and location-based entertainment for DreamWorks Animation Consumer Products. Ward will lead the development and growth of DreamWorks Animationâs involvement in theme park attractions and site-specific entertainment around the world, as well as foster new relationships with an increasing client roster and find fresh uses for the companyâs properties in theme parks, live shows and other forms of location-based entertainment.

Ward must extend and build franchise possibilities for DreamWorks Animation properties, including SHREK, MADAGASCAR and the upcoming KUNG FU PANDA, along with other films in the companyâs library. Ward will also endeavor to further grow the relationship with Universal Studios, in addition to creating new opportunities with parks and entertainment complexes around the world.

Ward held several exec positions in park operations and marketing over his 18 years at Universal Studios Hollywood, most recently serving as vp of brand marketing for the Hollywood park. He developed and managed the Halloween Horror Nights business for Universal Studios Hollywood, and led revenue driving initiatives, such as the extremely successful Annual Pass and VIP Experience programs.
