Donna Murphy, the Tony winner, has joined the cast of Disney's RAPUNZEL, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. Murphy will play Mother Gothel, the witch that locks Rapunzel in her tower prison. Directed by Byron Howard and Nathan Greno, the re-imagining of the fairy tale following Rapunzel (Mandy Moore) as she tries to escape from her prison with the aid of a bandit (Zachary Levi). Alan Menken returns to Disney animation as composer.
