VIZ Media Takes Bigger Shot at New York Con

VIZ Media announced a bevy of activities, events and new anime and manga offerings at the 2007 New York Comic-Con show, including an expansive booth filled with a photo sticker booth that will allow visitors to pose with their favorite anime and manga characters from popular series like BLEACH, NARUTO, ABSOLUTE BOYFRIEND, INUYASHA and with the SHOJO BEAT mascot Moko. A series of interactive videogames and activities including Mattels Ninja Academy Game, based on NARUTO, and TOMYs NARUTO: NINJA COUNCIL 3 for the Nintendo DS, will also be available for fans to play.

VIZ Media is also offering manga exclusives of DRAGON DRIVE, MILLENIUM SNOW, SHAKUGAN NO SHANA (manga and novel), and POKÉMON MYSTERY DUNGEON: GINJI'S RESCUE TEAM. Convention goers will also be able to purchase the latest volumes of BLEACH, NARUTO, DEATH NOTE, BEAUTY POP, FULLMETAL ALCHMEMIST, NAOKI URASAWAS MONSTER, INUYASHA and more before they hit the stores. Buyers will also have opportunities for free gifts, including anime and manga novelties, cell phone holders, hats, t-shirts, and more with specific purchases.

VIZ Media will show a sneak peek of two DEATH NOTE promotional trailers, available on a one-time-only basis for cell phone downloads exclusively during the New York Comic-Con show. The first trailer will be available on Feb. 24, and the second on Feb. 25. Visitors may come to VIZ Medias booth #619 to download the content to their Bluetooth-enabled cell phone or to get a code to enter through their participating cellular service provider. Standard text message and other phone charges will apply.

A special theatrical screening of VIZ Media and VIZ Pictures quirky romantic comedy TRAIN MAN: DENSHA OTOKO will be held Feb. 23. The recently released DVD of TRAIN MAN: DENSHA OTOKO will also be available in the retail area and includes a special poster with purchase.

A variety of panel discussions are also scheduled that will offer insight on upcoming VIZ Media releases and Q&A sessions with convention goers. VIZ Media execs are also scheduled to participate in a variety of other discussions, including panels on comics publishing, an editors buzz forum, capturing female readers, manga trends, and kids comics.
