Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has been hired to rewrite the book for SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK, reported Deadline.com. Aguirre-Sacasa has both comics and stage experience. He's written Spider-Man comics and rewrote the book for the musical IT'S A PLANE, IT'S SUPERMAN!, which is making the jump from the Dallas Theatre Center to New York. He has also written for HBO's BIG LOVE.

The musical's original book was written by Julie Taymor and Glen Berger. Many critics said the show lacked knowledge of the character's history. U2's Bono and The Edge wrote the songs. The $65 million production has been troubled from the start. Long delays, ballooning budgets, technical problems and a string of injuries have plagued the stage show. After five extensions, the show is set to officially open on March 15.
