Gilberto Sanchez, the man who uploaded the work print of X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE to the Internet, has pled guilty to felony copyright infringement, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The glass installer/musician purchased the film from a street vendor for $5 in April of 2009, a month before the film's release. The pirated copy was obtained from an unnamed post-production house.

Sanchez then uploaded the film to Megaupload.com and promoted it on various movie forums. Fox, working with the FBI, hunted down Sanchez via his Megaupload user name SkillyGilly.

Sanchez, who is 48, issued his guilty plea in federal court on March 14. A sentencing hearing has been set for Sept. 16. Sanchez faces three years in prison and a fine of $250,000. The fine is determined via doubling the piracy's gross loss or gain.
