WB Gets Dead Spy Running

Warner Bros. has purchased the rights to upcoming novel DEAD SPY RUNNING by British author Jon Stock, per THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.

Director McG (CHARLIE'S ANGELS, TERMINATOR SALVATION) will helm the first film in what is intended to launch a franchise.

The book, the first of a trilogy, reimagines the spy genre that mixes THE BOURNE IDENTITY with the works of John Le Carre. RUNNING, an origin story about a newly-trained spy, sold to HarperCollins in a bidding war and will be published next year.

McG is also producing with Jeanne Allgood under their WB-based Wonderland Sound and Vision. Ollie Madden in the U.K. is overseeing for the studio.

TERMINATOR SALVATION, coming May 22, 2009, is in post-production. McG also exec produces NBC's spy action comedy CHUCK and The CW's ghost hunter series SUPERNATURAL.
