Warner Readies Player One

Warner Bros. has paid high six figures the film rights to the forthcoming book READY PLAYER ONE, which was written by FANBOYS screenwriter Ernie Cline, reports VARIETY. Cline will adapt the sci-fi novel, which takes place in the virtual world of Oasis where players compete in a treasure hunt in order to win the fortune of the game's dead creator.

Donald De Line and Cline's manager Dan Farah will produce.

Random House recently won the publishing rights to the book.
