New Regency has acquired the film rights to Virgin Comics series VIRULENTS, reports VARIETY. John Moore (THE OMEN remake) will direct and John Cox will write the film, which will be distributed by 20th Century Fox.

Set in modern war torn Afghanistan, American and Indian soldiers team up to locate a lost patrol when they happen upon a hive of vampire zombies.

Virgin Comics' Gotham Chopra and Sharad Devarajan will produce alongside Seth Jaret and Moore.
