Unknown Knows the #1 Slot at Box Office

Warner Bros.' amnesia thriller UNKNOWN took the top spot at the U.S. box office for the weekend of Feb. 18-20, 2011. With vfx from 4DMax and Lip Sync Post, the Liam Neeson actioner earned $21.8 million.

Buena Vista's I AM NUMBER FOUR placed second with $19.5 million. The sci-fi TWILIGHT wannabe has vfx from Entity FX, Hammerhead Productions, Image Engineering, Industrial Light & Magic, Kerner Optical, Pixel Playground, Shade VFX, The Third Floor and XYZ-RGB.

Buena Vista's Touchstone Pictures scored the third slot as well with GNOMEO & JULIET. The Shakespearian garden gnome romance, with animation from Starz Animation, planted another $19.4 million into its $50.4 cume.

Last week's #1, JUST GO WITH IT, fell to fourth with $18.2 million. The Adam Sandler comedy has $60.8 million in total box office receipts.

Fox's BIG MOMMAS: LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON premiered in fifth. With fx from Spectral Motion, the threequel dragged in $17 million.

Paramount's JUSTIN BIEBER: NEVER SAY NEVER slid to sixth from second, singing up $13.6 million. The pop doc has a cume of $48.5 million.

The Weinstein Co.'s THE KING'S SPEECH crowed an additional $6.57 million in seventh. The stammering drama has amassed $103.3 million to date.

Screen Gem's THE ROOMMATE slashed into eighth, adding $4.1 million to its $32.7 million cume.

Focus Feature's THE EAGLE crashed landed into ninth after landing in fourth in its debut last week. With vfx from Filmefex Studios and Rushes, the 2nd century epic fed $3.56 million to its $15 million cume.

Paramount's comedy NO STRINGS ATTACHED closed out the top ten, scoring another $3.12 million thus lifting its cume to $66 million.
