Summit Ent. has picked up the global rights to the Thailand tsunami drama, THE IMPOSSIBLE, reports VARIETY. The film stars Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor. Warner Bros. holds the rights in Spain where the film was produced by Apaches Entertainment and Telecino Cinema.

Juan Antonio Bayona directed from a script by Sergio G. Sanchez. Belen Atienza, Lopez Lavigne and Alvaro Augustin are the producers.

Filming will start in August in Alicante, Spain then skip to Thailand in October.
