Paramount has selected stardate May 17, 2013 for the release of the 3-D STAR TREK sequel, reports Deadline.com. Director J.J. Abrams is penning the script with Damon Lindelof, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. The writers are all producing alongside Bad Robot's Bryan Burk. David Ellison’s Skydance will co-fund the project. Chris Pine, Zach Quinto and Zoe Saldana are all set to return.

With Roland Emmerich's SINGULARITY moving away from the pre-Memorial Day weekend slot, Paramount isn't the only studio to pounce on the date with Sony setting PIXELS there as well.
