Sony Pictures Animation has acquired the rights to Atari's ROLLERCOASTER TYCOON, reports HEAT VISION. Exec producer Harald Zwart (THE KARATE KID remake) is developing the project with an eye on directing. David Ronn and Jay Scherick (THE SMURFS) will pen the live-action/CG combo.

Created by Chris Sawyer, the game has players designing and managing amusement parks. The title is the U.S.'s third best selling PC game of all time.

Atari’s Jim Wilson is the exec producer alongside Nick Reed and Zwart.
