Social Network Likes #1 at Box Office

Sony's THE SOCIAL NETWORK recaptured the #1 spot at the U.S. box office for the weekend of Oct. 8-10, 2010. With vfx from Lola Visual Effects, the Facebook flick has befriended $46.1 million thus far.

Warner Bros.' LIFE AS WE KNOW IT debuted in second with $14.6 million. Hatch Prods. and Method Studios provided the visual effects.

Buena Vista's SECRETARIAT rode into third, earning $12.6 million in its opening weekend. Pixel Magic provided the vfx.

Warner Bros.' LEGEND OF THE GUARDIANS: THE OWLS OF GA'HOOLE landed in fourth, nesting another $7.02 million. With animation from Animal Logic, the owl adventure has garnered $39.4 million in box office receipts.

Universal's MY SOUL TO TAKE scared up $6.92 million in fifth. The Wes Craven horror flick has vfx from Mr. X.

Warner Bros.' THE TOWN stole an additional $6.35 million in sixth, making its cume $73.8 million.

Fox's WALL STREET: MONEY NEVER SLEEPS tumbled from third to seventh, stocking up another $4.63 million. With vfx for Crazy Horse Effects and With A Twist Studio, the financial drama has made $43.7 million to date.

Screen Gems' EASY A scored an additional $4.2 million in eighth. The teen comedy has earned $48.1 million thus far.

At #9, Paramount Vantage's CASE 39 summoned an additional $2.63 million. With vfx from Hydraulx, Rainmaker, At the Post, Lola Visual Effects and Pacific Title and Art Studio, the supernatural thriller has a cume of $9.6 million/

Buena Vista's YOU AGAIN closed out the top ten with $2.47 million. The romantic comedy has $20.7 million in total box office receipts.
