Slamdance Horror Script Winner Gains Scream Queen Trio

Shawnee Smith (SAW series), Erica Leerhsen (THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE) and AnnaLynne McCord (DAY OF THE DEAD) have signed on to SLAUGHTER, the film based on the 2007 Slamdance Horror Screenplay Competition winner from Nathan Brookes and Bobby Lee Darby, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. Maverick Films, Angel Baby Ent. and the Slamdance Film Festival are producing.

In the film, the trio of actresses will play thespians lured into a Japanese snuff film. Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa and Eugenia Yuan from MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA are the snuff film's director and producer, respectively. Karl Yune is the trio's co-star, while Jonathon Trent is McCord's character's boyfriend.

Victor Garcia is directing with Maverick's Mark Morgan, Guy Oseary and Cheri Wozniak, Angel Baby's Gregory Segal and John Andrew Gallagher, and Slamdance's Peter Baxter on as producers.

The submission deadline for next year's Slamdance Horror Screenplay contest is Nov. 21. The winner will be announced at the Park City event in January.
