Screen Gems is set to adapt Tim and Shechmeister's UCLA student film VIRAL into a feature film, reports Heat Vision. The brothers will co-write the script with Tim directing. The short film took a page from THE GRUDGE-style of horror telling a tale about cyberbullying.

The project came about when Tim Shechmeister met GRUDGE scribe Stephen Susco at a screenwriting event and gave him his business card, which included a link to the short. Susco loved the film and brought it to GRUDGE producer Roy Lee. Following, Lee and Lawrence Grey took it to Screen Gems. Susco, Lee and Grey will produce the feature alongside exec producer John Middleton.
