Rise of the Apes Lengthens Title
20th Century Fox has decided to lengthen the title of the PLANET OF THE APES prequel, RISE OF THE APES, reports ComingSoon.net. So there will be no confusion on what franchise it is, the title is now RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES. The title also keeps in the franchise tradition of having PLANET OF THE APES in the title.
Rupert Wyatt is the director. The sci-fi adventure star James Franco, John Lithgow, Freida Pinto, Andy Serkis, Brian Cox, Tom Felton and David Oyelowo. Fox will release the film on Aug. 5.
The story is set in modern San Francisco where scientific experiments lead to advanced apes, who rebel against their human oppressors.
Weta Digital is providing the photoreal apes for the film. Serkis was the performance capture actor for the main chimp Caesar.
