Revolutions Marks Day and Date First for IMAX and Industry

The simultaneous release of Warner Bros.' THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS on Nov. 5, 2003 in 35mm and IMAX/15/70 represents a first for a live-action Hollywood film and the prestigious large format corporation, which is attempting to increase both its commercial appeal and profitability as a result of its aggressive repurposing strategy.

As with APOLLO 13 and THE MATRIX RELOADED, IMAX employed its proprietary DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology for the repurposing of REVOLUTIONS, which also preserves the running time and correct wide screen aspect ratio. According to IMAX, the Wachowski brothers were so impressed with the DMR work on RELOADED that they immediately consented to a day and date release of the finale to their smash hit trilogy.

Offering a more immersive moviegoing experience, IMAX audiences will experience unparalled image and sound quality on screens up to eight stories tall surrounded by 12,000 watts of digital surround sound.
