New Line Home Ent. announced on Monday that THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING will be released May 25, 2004 on DVD in its theatrical version for $29.95, and that the Extended Edition will arrive in time for the holidays.

The second disc of bonus features for the May 25 release will include behind-the-scenes specials and featurettes, promotional trailers for all homevid incarnations of the three RINGS movies, a preview of the upcoming RINGS videogame from Electronic Arts and theatrical trailers and TV spots.

The Extended Edition should be finished next month, and will contain a running time of at least four hours, including additional vfx and digital grading, which should be completed next month.
