Puss in Boots Holds On Strong in Second Week

DreamWorks Animation's PUSS IN BOOTS dropped a mere 3.1% in its second weekend to retain the #1 spot at the U.S. box office for the weekend of Nov. 4-6, 2011. The SHREK spinoff added $33 million to its $75.5 million cume.

Universal's TOWER HEIST jacked $25.1 million in its debut to place second. Gravity, Phosphene, Method Studios and Stella VFX provided vfx for the Brett Ratner comedy.

New Line's A VERY HAROLD & KUMAR 3D CHRISTMAS rode a sleigh into third with $13.1 million. HOUSE Special created the stop-motion animation. Ingenuity Engine, Behold 3D, Furious FX and Tyrrell FX & Rentals provided the visual effects.

Paramount's PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 3 scared up another $8.53 million in fourth. With vfx from Almost Human, the haunted house flick has amassed $95.3 million to date.

Fox's IN TIME slipped to fifth, earning $7.7 million. With vfx from Luma Pictures, Soho VFX and Wildfire Visual Effects, the futuristic actioner has brought in $24.2 million thus far.

Paramount's FOOTLOOSE skipped down to sixth place with $4.55 million. With vfx from Wildfire Visual Effects, the dance remake has earned $44.8 million to date.

Walt Disney/DreamWorks' REAL STEEL slugged it out in seventh with $3.41 million. With vfx from Digital Domain, Giant Studios and Legacy Effects, the robot family film has a cume of $78.8 million.

FilmDistrict's THE RUM DIARY drank up $2.99 million in eighth. With vfx from Furious FX and Hirota Paint Industries (HPI), the Hunter S. Thompson dramedy has guzzled $10.4 million thus far.

Columbia's THE IDES OF MARCH was donated $2 million in ninth. With vfx from Method Studios and Tyrrell FX & Rentals, the political thriller has a cume of $36.8 million.

Columbia's MONEYBALL rounded out the top ten with $1.9 million. With vfx from Rhythm and Hues, the baseball hit has made $70.3 million.
