THE LOS ANGELES TIMES reports that director Rob Marshall and producer Jerry Bruckheimer are going through the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES script line by line to find places to cut costs. When Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio were given the task of penning the script they were told to keep Capt. Jack Sparrow on dry land more often then the water.

Shooting locations in the Caribbean and L.A. for the first films where switched to Hawai'i and London where tax incentives are better. The shooting schedule has been trimmed from 142 days to no more than 95, while the vfx shots have been reduced from 2,000 to 1,500.

Scenes involving chases through London and an ice fair on the River Thames were trimmed for budget reasons as well.

The fourth PIRATES film is set for release on May 20, 2011.
