Lila 9th and Electric Shepherd Prods. have optioned Philip K. Dick's NOW WAIT FOR LAST YEAR for a big screen adaptation, reports Variety. Ted Kupper is writing the script. The story follows an organ transplant doctor who gets wrapped up in the political war between Earth and the starmen.

Barrie M. Osborne, Cameron Lamb and the author's daughter Isa Dick Hackett are the producers alongside exec producers Dan Keston, Laura Leslie, Christopher Tricarico and Kathy Morgan.

The next step is to secure a director. The producers hope to start production in Q3 2012.
